Indiana's wages lag behind national average

A recent analysis of Indiana's annual wage data shows that the statewide average annual wage paid to Hoosiers was $58,604, and it ranges from Marion County's high of $70,834 to a low of $36,559 in nearby Union County.  Employees in all but one Indiana county make less than the national average wage, and Hoosiers earn just 83.3 cents for each dollar earned by their national counter-parts, according to employment date from the U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics.  However, many counties did have faster wage growth than the national average, as well as faster job growth, but not enough to catch up.  Wayne County's annual wage comes in at $44,408, while Fayette averages $42,484.
