PLEA DEAL REACHED IN BURGLARY, SHOOTING CASE

(Richmond, IN)--A plea deal now appears to be in place for a Richmond drug dealer who shot a property owner while he was burglarizing that property owner’s basement.  A change of plea hearing has now been set for next month for Alex Irwin.  Three years ago, Irwin shot Mike Elstro in the leg when Elstro was investigating a suspicious noise.  The plea deal calls for Irwin to plead guilty to aggravated battery and be sentenced to nine years.  Earlier this year, he was sentenced to 25 years for dealing methamphetamine.
