RCS CONTINUES WORK TO ESTABLISH POLICE FORCE

(Richmond, IN)--Work is continuing to establish a police department for Richmond Community Schools with a very short time frame to do so before the start of the school year.  Two weeks ago, the RCS Board voted to establish its own police department.  Not only do new officers have to be hired, they also have to be certified by the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board.  And, it comes at a time when other local agencies are already desperate for officers.  The Richmond Police Department, for example, is short about 15 officers.  The first day of school for RCS students is in 40 days.
