SMOKE BEGINS TO DISSIPATE, BUT ALERT REMAINS IN EFFECT

(Whitewater Valley)--Smoke from Canadian wildfires will dissipate today, but it is still thick enough that the Air Quality Alert for the entire Whitewater Valley has been extended through midnight tonight.  Newscenter 7 Meteorologist Britley Ritz talked Thursday morning about Richmond’s AQI, which stands at 169.  "What does that mean?  It simply means it's unhealthy.  Those of us with asthma, COPD...still having some trouble breathing," Ritz said.  Richmond’s visibility Thursday morning was at four miles.
