(Union County, IN)--High levels of e. Coli have forced the indefinite closure of the beach at Whitewater Memorial State Park in Union County.  Weekly water testing indicated e. Coli levels that exceed safe contact with humans.  The Department of Environmental Management called it an uncommon occurrence and is entirely different than an alert for blue-green algae.  Beaches at Mounds and Quakertown will remain open.  Beaches at other large lakes, including at Hueston Woods and Lakengren, are also open.
