BOARD OF WORKS APPROVES $2.6 MILLION PLAYGROUND UPGRADE
(Richmond, IN)--Approval was granted Thursday night by the Board of Works for Richmond to enter into a contract that will put into place a massive reworking of the playground and splash pad at Glen Miller Park. Park Superintendent Denise Retz talked about it. "The most exciting features that the community will really love about this playground is that we're really honoring Glen Miller Park's history," Retz said. Those features will include references to the small train near the playground which operated decades ago and a reference to the long-gone zoo. The total cost of the project is set at just under $2.6 million. Ken Paust with the Board of Works explained the source of that money. "This is coming out of the new food and beverage (tax)," Paust said. Construction is expected to start next month and be complete by next spring.
