Blake Shelton Is Developing a TV Drama Based on His Hit Single, "God's Country"

Call it all part of "God's" plan. Deadline reports that Blake Shelton is developing a drama series at NBC based on his hit single, "God's Country."

He's collaborating on the project with TV producer Gary Scott Thompson, who co-wrote The Fast and the Furious and created the NBC drama Las Vegas, which ran from 2003-2008.

The outlet reports that the show would focus on "the patriarch of a hardworking Midwestern farm family [who] dies mysteriously in a car accident. His grown children [then] discover he was keeping a devastating secret they could never have imagined."

Also working on the project?

Narvel Blackstock, who produced Shelton's 2012 Christmas special and is the father of Kelly Clarkson's soon-to-be ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.
