Walker Hayes Releases New Single, Would-Be CMA Acceptance Speech

Walker Hayes was up for his very first CMA Awards nomination on Wednesday  night where he was up for New Artist of the Year. Although he didn’t win, he was prepared with a speech just in case. Thursday, he released a song called "Face In The Crowd."

He prefaced it by stating, “I was honored to be nominated for a CMA Award, but the acceptance speech I would’ve made dropped just now… it’s called ‘Face in the Crowd.’” The song is a message to his wife, Laney, his family and his fans.

Walker said, “I can’t say how grateful I am for the last year of my life. It changed a lot for me and my family, but at the end of the day, money doesn’t fix anything. We’ve been doing this a long time, and we were happy when we were poor, too. We’re just lucky to have each other, and that’s really all that matters."

His latest single, “Y’all Life,” continues climbing the charts at country radio.
