Jelly Roll Visits His Old Jail Cell

Jelly Roll got emotional during a recent visit to his old jail cell.

During an appearance on CBS Sunday Mornings on Sunday (January 7th), Jelly Roll took a trip to the Metro-Davidson Country Detention Facility in Nashville, Tennessee.

While leading CBS correspondent through the facility, Jelly explained, "This is jail. It sucks. Every one I've ever been to."

Holding back tears, he continued, "There was a time in my life when I truly thought this was it. Coming here, after getting nominated for two Grammys, it hits different...Even when I left here, I didn't have a plan. I knew that I loved music, and it was the only thing I had any skill set in, I thought."

Jelly Roll's first stint in jail was at a youth detention facility at 14, and for the next decade, he was in and out of jail, mostly on drug-related charges.

He then served an 18-month sentence for aggravated robbery at 16 years old.
