VIGIL SET TO MARK ONE-YEAR POINT SINCE SEARA BURTON SHOOTING, DEATH

(Richmond, IN)--Monday marked the five-year anniversary of Seara Burton’s swearing-in as a police officer in Richmond.  She would become the city’s first female canine officer.  This Thursday marks the one-year point since she was shot in the line of duty.  Monday night, Richmond Mayor Dave Snow reflected on Seara and on the support the city has received from its citizens.  "So many members of this community have reached out, surrounded us, supported us, and lifted us through this unfathomable time," Snow said.  Snow also announced that a prayer vigil has been set for Friday, September 8 at 6 p.m. at the south steps of the city building.  The public is invited.  The Wayne County Historical Museum has also announced that they’ll be adding a permanent exhibit honoring Seara.
