14-YEAR-OLD NEW CASTLE BOY TO FACE MURDER CHARGE

A 14-year-old New Castle youth will face prosecution as an adult on a murder charge.  The boy, who was 13 at the time of the incident in New Catle, was waived from juvenile to adult court on a charge of murder of 47-year-old Ernest Thornsberry Jr, who was mortally wounded at an eastside New Castle intersection on May 2nd.  The suspect was interviewed after the incident and reportedly told officers that he and others had confronted Thornsberry, who told the juveniles to leave him alone.  When they continued to harass him, Thornsberry brandished a pocketknife, with the teenage suspect pulling a 9 mm handgun, firing one shot in the air and two in the direction of the victim.  The firearm, which had been stolen, was later recovered.  While the youth will be tried as an adult, he continues to be held at the juvenile facility in Vincennes Indiana. The trial has been scheduled for November 27th.
