RESIDENTS EVACUATE DURING MINOR INTERFAITH APARTMENT FIRE

(Richmond, IN)--There was a large firefighting response to Richmond’s Interfaith Apartments on North West 5th Sunday morning.  Firefighters were called on the report of smoke filling the fourth floor.  Battalion Chief Chuck Powell talked about what firefighters encountered when they got there:  "It was light smoke.  Luckily, it was a small little fire on a stove that the resident had put out before he left his apartment."  Even though it was relatively minor, numerous residents evacuated.  "Some of it was probably people remembering how bad it was last time and using extra caution," Powell said.  Back in 2018, two people were killed and six others were injured in an upper-story fire at Interfaith.
