RICHMOND CONSIDERS DEPOT DISTRICT DORA

(Richmond, IN)--The city of Richmond is looking to establish a DORA in the Depot District.  DORA stands for Designated Outdoor Recreation Area.  What it really does is allow people to walk around outside with alcoholic beverages.  The drinks would have to be purchased from businesses inside the DORA and could not be brought in from outside.  The Depot DORA, as the area would be called, would be operational from 4 in the afternoon until 11 at night on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.  The proposed area would be roughly from Fort Wayne Avenue to 10th Street and from the railroad track to North D Street.  There are four existing businesses in that area that serve alcohol.  An ordinance establishing the DORA is on first reading Tuesday night with Richmond Common Council.  As always, you can catch that meeting live at 7 o’clock on WCTV.
