POWER OUTAGE BRINGS EXTENSION OF VOTING HOURS

(Richmond, IN)--Tuesday’s election in Wayne County was affected by a major power outage.  It happened at just before 9 Tuesday morning.  12,000 RP&L customers were out, including polling locations.  After the outage was resolved by 11 o’clock, the Wayne County Election Board decided to keep polling locations open until 7 Tuesday night, which is an hour longer than normal.  RP&L indicated that a car crash somewhere took out a large regional power line.  Power was also out in Centerville, Hagerstown, and Liberty.  Many school districts, including Richmond, dismissed early as a result of the outage.
