(Richmond, IN)--Tuesday’s election in Wayne County was affected by a major power outage. It happened at just before 9 Tuesday morning. 12,000 RP&L customers were out, including polling locations. After the outage was resolved by 11 o’clock, the Wayne County Election Board decided to keep polling locations open until 7 Tuesday night, which is an hour longer than normal. RP&L indicated that a car crash somewhere took out a large regional power line. Power was also out in Centerville, Hagerstown, and Liberty. Many school districts, including Richmond, dismissed early as a result of the outage.
