EPA DISCUSSES CLEANUP AT MY WAY TRADING AS WORK BEGINS

(Richmond, IN)--Cleanup is now visibly underway at site of the last spring’s My Way Trading fire in Richmond.  Tuesday, the EPA held a press conference to talk about the process and the cost.  "We have estimated and budgeted a little over $3 million," said Allen Jarrell with the EPA.  But, the EPA will only be cleaning up about 2/3 of the 14 acres because that’s where most of the lead, asbestos, and benzene was centered.  When asked who is responsible for cleaning up the rest of the property, this was Jarrell’s response:  "That's not my concern."  That property is owned by the city and Seth Smith.  The debris will be taken to a special landfill out of the area.  Cleanup is expected to be complete by next summer.
