SPEAKERS EXPRESS FRUSTRATION OVER McDERMOTT FIRING DURING RCS MEETING

(Richmond, IN)--Monday night was the public comment portion of the ratification of the new contract between Richmond Community Schools and the REA, or teachers’ union.  Jamie Bolser with RCS shared the opinions of education leaders about the new contract. "Indiana State Teacher Association Director and former REA President Scott Priest acknowledged that this teachers' contract is the most significant contractual agreement in the history of Richmond Community Schools."  Six speakers then paraded to the microphone to talk not about the new contract, but instead about the removal of REA President Kelley McDermott.  Former Dennis teacher Casey Raper teed off on the Board.  "You have chosen to be selfish, narcissistic political bullies and you should be ashamed of yourselves.  You need to stop your political agendas and listen," Raper said.  The Board is expected to ratify the new contract this coming Monday.
