BOB VAN PELT DEAD AT 78

(Richmond, IN)--A long-time Richmond business and community leader who was also one of the greatest athletes in the city’s history has died.  Bob Van Pelt died Sunday morning.  He had entered hospice care after being in failing health in recent years.  Van Pelt was the owner of Rax Restaurants in Richmond, Connersville, and New Castle.  Before that, he had played in the NFL with teams that included the Philadelphia Eagles, Cincinnati Bengals, and Detroit Lions.  Van Pelt was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame in 2012.  Services are pending.  Bob Van Pelt was 78.
