COUNTY COUNCIL APPROVES $2 MILLION IN EDIT FUNDING FOR ELDER-BEERMAN CONVERSION

(Richmond, IN)--This week, the Wayne County Council voted unanimously to approve a two-million-dollar contribution from the Consolidated EDIT Fund to advance the goal of converting the former Elder-Beerman building in downtown Richmond into 150 new apartments.  The issue next goes before the Wayne County Commissioners for the county’s last step in the approval process.  And, a point of clarification regarding a story Kicks 96 and 101.7 The Point ran earlier this week…in previewing the council meeting this week, we also mentioned two other historical buildings in downtown Richmond in such a way that the listener or reader could have thought the EDIT funds were aimed at them and not Elder-Beerman.  Those two buildings are not part of the issue that’s now headed to commissioners.
