HUNDREDS TURN OUT TO REMEMBER VAN PELT

(Richmond, IN)--Hundreds of people from near and far stopped by the Richmond Community of Faith Monday night to pay their respects to Bob Van Pelt, who died earlier this month.  One of them was former Richmond football coach Richard Bryant.  "He's done so much for our community over the years.  It's really nice to see such a great turnout for him and see all the people that appreciate him," Bryant said.  Van Pelt left a huge impact on Richmond sports, and no one knows that better than long-time Red Devil supporter Jack Bledsoe.  "He was instrumental in getting programs going and helping those young men achieve what they achieved.  It was volunteer time.  He was never on a coaching staff," Bledsoe said.  Van Pelt is survived by his wife, three children, and 11 grandchildren.
