OXFORD-GETTYSBURG RAIL CROSSING TO PERMANENTLY CLOSE

(Preble County, OH)--Preble County officials announced Thursday that part of a heavily traveled road will close for good in a few weeks.  Oxford-Gettysburg Road has been a primary north-south connector of Highways 35 and 122.  Now, the railroad crossing is closing.  The closure is part of an expansion by Norfolk & Southern Railroad that has already brought about the permanent closure of two other nearby roads.  The closure will mean there is no way for vehicle traffic to cross the tracks for a stretch of roughly four miles.  The closure goes into effect on January 8.
