COMMON COUNCIL APPROVES RICHMOND'S FIRST DORA

(Richmond, IN)--Richmond now has its first DORA.  DORA stands for Designated Outdoor Recreation Area, and it allows people to carry alcoholic beverages outside if those drinks are purchased from a business inside the DORA.  Richmond Common Council on Monday night passed the DORA’s establishment by a 6-3 vote.  Richmond’s new DORA encompasses about a five-block area in the heart of the Depot District.  That’s where the Cordial Cork is.  Adam Melton is the owner.  "This allows our guests the freedom to move around the Depot rather than being corralled into a Beer Garden at Events like Oktoberfest. Only utilizing it for certain special events, within the restricted times of Thursday-Friday-Saturday 4pm-10pm, will be a contributing factor in keeping DORA events safe and beneficial to all," Melton said Monday night.  The DORA will be in effect from 4 until 10 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
