(Richmond, IN)--The Richmond Education Association, or teachers union, has announced they’ll be holding a community forum on what is becoming an increasingly controversial topic – equity in schools.  While equality typically means equal opportunity, equity generally means equal outcome.  In Oregon, for example, standardized testing was recently dropped in the name of equity and labeled "instruments of racism and a biased system."  Richmond’s upcoming forum is subtitled “Why Richmond Community Schools Needs an Equity Policy.”  It will be held on January 16 at Morrison-Reeves Library and is open to the public.
