FIRE CONTAINED AT MANUFACTURING PLANT
(Richmond, IN)--There was a fire at a Richmond manufacturer Thursday night. It broke out at around 7:30 Thursday night at the Madison-Kipp plant in the 1600 block of Rich Road. Employees first reported a fire inside the building that was being fed by a natural gas line and evacuated. Battalion Chief Chris Chappel describes what happened when firefighters arrived: "Crews made entry, found it quickly, and was able to get the gas shut off to that particular line. After that, there really wasn't a lot of problems. There was just a minimal amount of fire remaining." The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
