(Richmond, IN)--The first element of the new 6Main apartments is now visible.  That’s the name given what will be more than 150 apartment units at the site of the former Elder-Beerman building at 6^th and East Main in Richmond.  Passers-by will now see a new elevator shaft rising above the construction area.  When it’s complete, the building will include not only the much-needed housing, but will also feature 3000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor.  There will also be a café, a pool, and a fitness center.  The average rent is expected to be $1350 monthly.  One goal of the project is to fill the living space with 70% young professionals, with at least half of those coming from outside of Richmond.
