Arrest Made After SWAT Standoff in Richmond

RICHMOND, Ind.  A Richmond man was taken into custody Tuesday following a standoff involving the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the Richmond Police Department’s SWAT team.

 

According to authorities, Josh Farmer was wanted on several outstanding warrants when deputies attempted to make contact with him at a residence on 11th Street around 10:30 a.m. After Farmer failed to respond, the SWAT team was activated.

 

As part of the operation, officers deployed clear-out gas in an effort to safely bring Farmer out of the home. Nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution during the incident. 

 

The situation was resolved around 3:45 p.m. SWAT members were able to make entry and located Farmer. He was taken into custody without further incident.

 

Farmer now faces multiple charges, including Level 5 felony burglary, Level 6 felony possession of methamphetamine, and Level 6 felony possession of a syringe. He's also been involved in several local thefts.

 

No injuries were reported during the standoff and there is no threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing.
