TWO YEARS AFTER CLOSURE, WERNLE, GORDON FACE NEW $15 MILLION LAWSUIT

(Shelbyville, IN)--The Wernle Youth and Family Treatment Center in Richmond ceased operations more than two years ago following a series of state sanctions and accusations against its CEO, Darrell Gordon.  Now, Wernle and Gordon are facing a brand new lawsuit – and it’s a big one.  The plaintiff in the case, who has legally changed his name and now goes by Bartholomew Blunt, is asking for $15 million in damages in a case that has been filed in Shelby County.  Blunt claims in the lawsuit that he – under Gordon’s leadership – was subjected to repeated sexual battery while housed at Wernle because another resident was granted unsupervised access.  He also alleges staff was not trained to recognize warning signs.  Gordon has not yet filed a response to the lawsuit.
