SIM HODGIN TO REMAIN CLOSED THROUGH DECEMBER
(Richmond, IN)--Sim Hodgin Parkway in Richmond won’t be reopening any time soon. That road, which cuts through the Whitewater Gorge, has been closed for several months to allow for removal of the Weir Dam and for work on a railroad bridge. Part of the reason for the extended closure is that drivers have driven around barricades. Here’s Aaron Stevens with RPD: "There were some cars that had broken through the barricades. Average speeds on them approaching that area were in excess of 45 miles per hour." When will Sim Hodgin reopen? "I hope it's sometime in December," Stevens said. The Board of Works has approved the extended closure.
