Woke up this morning to find more than 60 new-artist releases. But in the midst of a morning of reality-show contestants and a sea of new voices, an old friend rose up like a bright sunrise. Vince Gill dropped the bluesy "Nobody Held Her Like Me". You can hear the influence of his time spent on The Eagles stage. The :24 second intro could easily be a Don Henley set up until that sweet tenor comes in. Gill's voice is unwavering. It's as heartfelt a delivery as “Never Knew Lonely”. The years haven’t diminished his voice; they’ve refined it. Nobody... is a declaration of love, but the object of Gill's affection isn't for a woman.
"...with her in my arms, I couldn't lose
and nobody held her like me..."
It's an axe!
"Nobody Held Her Like Me" is a song of great guitar love - and Vince Gill and his '53 Tele are one of my favorite couples. Check out the audio link below.
