The NY Daily News claims a doctor at St. Vincent Hospital in Worchester, Massachusetts accidentally removed a healthy kidney from a patient, who had the same name as another patient in the hospital. The doctor examined a CT scan before the surgery which showed a tumor on the kidney. The scan was from the wrong patient. The hospital plans to take steps to avoid similar mix-ups in the future. Yikes!
