Hold My Drink And Watch This today is something out of Footloose. A Valentine's Day dance in Henryetta, Oklahoma has been canceled because of an ordinance that prohibits dancing within 500 feet of a church. The dance was going to be held at a store that is 300 feet away from the church.

 

Mayor Jennifer Clason tells KTUL that she didn't realize the law was still in effect. “I never looked at it because it never came up. It’s an antiquated ordinance, no one has ever looked at it to change it.”

Police Chief Steve Norman says; “It’s one of those ordinances that was passed long before I ever came, and we have no interest in enforcing it.''

 

The city's attorney is married to the dance's organizer. The attorney refused to budge.
